Grandson Kyle's HS Graduation Quilt

Posting pictures of the U of M quilt that I made for my grandson Kyle's high school graduation. It is a plaid pattern with no border. I machine quilted it in straight lines vertically and horizontally to emphasize the "plaidness". It doesn't really show up on this photo taken with a cell phone though.
The machine embroidered quilt label features graphics of the Utica H.S. mascot (chieftain) and the U of M logo. This represents the end of high school and the beginning of college life.

A Quilt for our new granddaughter!

Here finally are pictures of the baby quilt that I made for our new granddaughter, Quincee Rae Abbitt. My daughter had told me about the fabric she purchased online to make curtains for the baby's room. I immediately went online and purchased more of the same fabrics to make the quilt. I think she was quite surprised to open it up and see that it was a matching quilt!
It was my first attempt at stippling. Although the stipples are quite large, I am extremely happy at how they turned out. It actually was faster too than the way I has going to quilt it with 1/4 inch outlining.
Sorry, I didn't get a picture of the label on the back. It had a little girl releasing a bird into the air. Very cute too!

New "Secret" Projects...

Well, I have been very busy lately making "things". I am soon to have a new granddaughter! Unfortunately, I cannot post photos of any of the "projects" yet because I want them to be a surprise! Won't be long now though!

Two at a time socks

About 6 inches now into a pair of Marine socks for my nephew Derek who is in Afghanistan. First time trying the 2 at a time method. I thought it would be really a tangled mess but it's not too bad. If it would have been bad I would have just removed one sock and knit them one at a time again.
On the ribbing you need to make sure that your working yarn stays on the correct side of the needle.
It also was helpful to change out one of the needles to another color. And I will try a shorter pair too. 16" vs. the 24" that I am using now...
Never stop learning!

Where have I been??

I cannot believe it has been that long since my last post here! I have been busy but gee I am supposed to be retired with all of this free time.
Above I am posting some project photos that I have promised to you. On the top is my nephew Derek's soldier cap which I mailed out today. Then a picture of my Christmas Table Quilt. (Ready for next year! Yeah!) It really is nicely square although it doesn't look like it in the picture.
Feel free to comment if you like them!

Waiting for Christmas........

Well, I haven't posted for a while and some of my posts are moved. I do have a few more projects that are completed but as they are Christmas gifts, I will have to wait to post photos. Who knows, some of my family may actually read this blog!?
One day I will get around to rearranging everything here.
Today is Sunday and I plan to do some sewing in the afternoon as that is not considered WORK.
I went with friends to some great craft fairs on Saturday. It was enough to get all of us motivated to keep "crafting". So many clever ideas!
